Terms of Use
The short version: OneVia is a platform, not a publisher. Everything posted on OneVia is written by users, not by us. Seven Mice Ltd takes no responsibility for what any user posts — you are solely responsible for your own content, and for reading and complying with these Terms and our Community Guidelines before you use the Service. This applies whether you're an everyday user, an advertiser, or someone just reading — see section 12 if you're here about advertising.
1. Who we are
OneVia (the "Service") is operated by Seven Mice Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16407976, with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom ("Seven Mice Ltd", "Seven Mice", "we", "us", "our"). Seven Mice Ltd is not currently registered for VAT.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using the Service, creating an account, or posting any content, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms") and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
4. Your account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
- You may not create an account on behalf of someone else without their permission, or maintain more than one account for abusive or deceptive purposes.
- We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, including for breach of these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
- These Terms apply to every account you hold on the Service, including an advertiser account — see section 12 below for terms specific to buying advertising.
5. User content — your responsibility, not ours
The Service allows users to post, upload, and share text, images, links, polls, and other material ("User Content"). This is the most important section of these Terms, so please read it carefully.
- You own your content. You retain all rights in the User Content you post. By posting it, you grant Seven Mice Ltd a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.
- You are solely responsible for it. Seven Mice Ltd does not write, select, or endorse User Content. As described in section 10 below, an automated system screens posts before publication for attacks on a person only, and reported content is separately reviewed personally by us — but neither process checks or guarantees that any content is accurate, lawful, or fit for any purpose, and neither makes Seven Mice Ltd the author, editor, or publisher of User Content. Any opinions, statements, or claims made by a user are that user's own and do not represent the views of Seven Mice Ltd, its directors, officers, or employees.
- We accept no liability for it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Seven Mice Ltd — together with its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and agents — accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for User Content, including but not limited to its accuracy, completeness, legality, or the consequences of anyone relying on it or being exposed to it. You access, read, and rely on User Content entirely at your own risk.
- Polls are User Content too. Where you attach a poll to a post, the question and every option you write are User Content like any other — the same ownership, licence, responsibility, and liability terms in this section apply to them, and the free-speech and zero-tolerance rules in section 7 below apply equally to what you ask and how you frame your options.
6. AI-assisted answers ("/ask")
The Service includes an optional feature that lets you start a post or reply with /ask followed by a question. When you do, a third-party AI system — currently provided by OpenAI — researches your question by searching the public web and, where relevant, other posts already on OneVia, and generates a short answer that is published on the same post, alongside your question.
- An AI-generated answer is not User Content, and it is not written, fact-checked, selected, or endorsed by Seven Mice Ltd or by you. It may be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong. Section 5 above — including the disclaimer of liability for content on the Service — applies equally to any answer generated by this feature.
- The AI system is instructed to answer checkable questions of fact and not to take a position on opinions, political questions, or matters of values, consistent with the free-speech principle in section 7 below — but we do not warrant that it will always do so, and an AI-generated answer is never a statement of Seven Mice Ltd's own views.
- We may limit how often you can use
/ask, change the feature, withdraw it, or decline to generate or publish an answer to any question, at any time and without notice. - You must not use
/askto try to generate content that would breach section 8 below, or to dress up harassment, threats, or false statements about a real person as an "AI-verified" fact.
How we use third-party AI providers to deliver this feature, and what data is sent to them, is explained in our Privacy Policy.
7. Free speech & zero tolerance for personal attacks
OneVia exists for open debate. We protect the right to post controversial, unpopular, or challenging opinions, and we do not remove content merely because it is offensive to some or all of our users.
That right does not extend to personal attacks. Harassment, abuse, threats, or attacks directed at another person — rather than at their argument — breach these Terms regardless of who posts them. Our full enforcement policy, including the escalating warning, suspension, and permanent ban process, is set out in our Community Guidelines, which form part of these Terms.
8. Prohibited content & conduct
In addition to personal attacks, you must not use the Service to post or transmit content that:
- Is unlawful in the jurisdiction in which it is posted or viewed, including illegal hate speech, harassment, or incitement to violence;
- Is defamatory, or knowingly false and presented as fact with intent to harm someone's reputation;
- Infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights;
- Discloses another person's private or identifying information without their consent ("doxxing");
- Depicts or promotes child sexual abuse, terrorism, or other content illegal to host under UK law;
- Contains malware, spam, or attempts to compromise the security or integrity of the Service;
- Misuses the
/askfeature or a poll to harass, threaten, or make false factual claims about a specific person, or to attempt to manipulate poll results through automated, coordinated, or deceptive means.
9. Reporting & takedown notices
If you believe content on OneVia is illegal, breaches these Terms, or infringes your rights, please report it using the in-product reporting tool or contact us at [email protected]. We will review notices and act expeditiously to remove or disable access to content we determine to be unlawful, in line with our obligations under the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 and the Online Safety Act 2023.
10. Moderation & enforcement
Before publication, an automated system checks each post for one thing only: whether it attacks a person — verbally, or through a threat, physical or otherwise — rather than their argument. It does not assess whether a post is true, legal, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable in substance, and using it does not make Seven Mice Ltd the author, editor, or publisher of any User Content. This screening is a safety measure, not a guarantee, and may not catch every breach of the Community Guidelines.
Reports of content that may breach these Terms or the Community Guidelines — including the categories listed in section 8, which are not screened by the automated system — are reviewed personally by us. OneVia does not use a panel or council of user moderators — all enforcement decisions are made by Seven Mice Ltd.
We reserve the right, but are under no obligation, to review, remove, or restrict access to any User Content or AI-assisted answer, and to warn, suspend, or permanently ban any account, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, where we consider that this is necessary to enforce these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
11. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, branding, the "OneVia" name and logo, software, and all content other than User Content, is owned by or licensed to Seven Mice Ltd and is protected by copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
12. Advertising
The Service is funded in part by advertising, which works differently depending on where you encounter it. This section is addressed both to people who see adverts and to advertisers who buy them — we keep it in one place so everyone is reading the same terms.
12.1 On our marketing website
On onevia.app, we display third-party adverts served through Google AdSense. Google's advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visit to this website and others. These advertising cookies are only set with your consent — see our Privacy Policy for details.
12.2 Within the OneVia platform
Adverts shown within the OneVia platform itself are sold and served directly by us, to independent advertiser accounts that are created separately from, and can never be linked to, ordinary user accounts. We do not use a third-party ad network, behavioural tracking, or targeting cookies to select or place these adverts — placement is based on advertising purchased, not on your personal data or browsing history.
If you create an advertiser account to buy advertising on the platform, the following terms apply to you and form part of your agreement with Seven Mice Ltd — we don't use a separate advertiser contract, so please read this section carefully:
- Review and approval. Every advert ("creative") you submit is reviewed by us before it is shown, and we may approve, reject, or later remove any creative at our sole discretion, including after it has gone live — for example if it turns out to be misleading, to infringe someone's rights, or to link to something unlawful or unsafe. We are not obliged to explain a rejection.
- Your creative, your responsibility. You must own or have the right to use everything in your creative — the image, any text, and the destination it links to — and you are solely responsible for making sure your advert and what it links to is lawful, accurate, and not misleading. You grant Seven Mice Ltd a licence to host, display, and distribute your creative on the Service for as long as it is active.
- Payment — top-ups are final. Advertising is prepaid: you top up your advertiser account balance, and we deduct the price of each confirmed, viewable impression as your advert is shown. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider, as described in our Privacy Policy. All charges are in the currency shown at checkout. Once a top-up is made it is final — we do not offer refunds on advertising balance, spent or unspent, for any reason (including where your creative is rejected, later removed, or your account is suspended for breaching these Terms), except where we're required to by law. An unspent balance doesn't expire and stays on your account for future advertising, but it cannot be exchanged for cash. Because there's no way to get a top-up back, we'd rather you topped up little and often, in amounts you're comfortable committing to, than in one large payment — which is also why, unless we've agreed otherwise with you, your account balance is capped at £100 at any one time; you can always top up again once you've spent it down. We may, at our sole discretion, raise this cap for an individual advertiser account — for example an established advertiser going through their balance quickly who wants more headroom — but there is no entitlement to this and any change only applies once we've confirmed it.
- No guaranteed results. We do not guarantee any particular number of impressions, level of engagement, or placement frequency. Topping up your balance buys the opportunity to be shown under our normal placement rules, not a guaranteed outcome.
- Suspension and termination. We may suspend or close your advertiser account, and withhold or forfeit any remaining balance, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms — including by submitting unlawful, deceptive, or harmful advertising.
Whether served by Google AdSense or submitted by a platform advertiser, we do not control, and are not responsible for, the content of any advertisement beyond our own review process described above, or for the products, services, or sites it promotes. Sections 13 (Disclaimers & service availability), 14 (Limitation of liability), and 15 (Indemnity) apply to advertising — and to advertisers — on the same basis as they apply to User Content and users.
13. Disclaimers & service availability
13.1 No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Seven Mice Ltd does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.
13.2 Faults, downtime & data loss
We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, or available at any particular time. We may suspend, restrict, or withdraw all or part of the Service at any time and without notice — for maintenance, upgrades, or security reasons, because of a fault or a server or hosting failure, or for any other reason. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Seven Mice Ltd is not liable for any loss, damage, cost, or inconvenience arising from the Service being unavailable, faulty, or interrupted, or from any loss or corruption of your User Content or account data, however caused. The Service is not a backup — keep your own copy of anything important to you.
13.3 Things beyond our control
The Service depends on infrastructure and providers we don't control — our hosting provider, and the third parties named in our Privacy Policy (email, SMS, payment, and AI providers, among others). Seven Mice Ltd is not liable for any failure or delay caused by a fault, outage, or failure of any third-party provider, or by any other event beyond our reasonable control, including internet or telecommunications failures, power failures, cyberattacks (including denial-of-service attacks), acts of God, or governmental action.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Seven Mice Ltd, and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and agents, shall not be liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, any User Content or AI-assisted answer, or these Terms — whether based in contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Seven Mice Ltd's total liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with the Service or these Terms, however arising, is limited in aggregate to the greater of (a) £100, or (b) the total amount you paid Seven Mice Ltd in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Seven Mice Ltd, and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and agents, from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Service, your User Content, your advertising on the Service, or your breach of these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
16. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice or cause, including where we believe you have breached these Terms or the Community Guidelines. Sections 5, 6, and 11 to 18 of these Terms survive termination.
17. Changes to the Service or these Terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users. Your continued use of the Service after any change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
18. Governing law & jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim.
